Pilots

Fly it.

What every pilot gets: live times and their own stats on their phone, lap times in their goggles, and race-day HDZero firmware.

Dashboard & displays

Every pilot.
Every phone.

Anyone on the venue wifi opens the dashboard and watches the current heat, who's next, standings, best consecutive laps and time trials — updating live, no refreshing.

Pilot pages

Per-pilot analytics with stat cards that jump to the heat that set them, a lap chart, and lap and race tables. Rendered on the laptop, so it works offline.

Race history

Every heat with its lap times, at /dronedash/races.

TV view

The current race full-screen at /live, for a screen at the pits.

OBS overlay

Add /overlay as a Browser Source and the race is on stream.

Practice rounds

Shown on the board, but they don't count towards standings.

Lite mode

Add ?lite=1 to any page for an old TV or tablet that struggles.

Always live

Every page updates the moment FPVTrackside does — nobody presses refresh.

Goggles · ELRS backpack

Lap times,
right in their eyes.

Each pilot needs only a bind phrase — dd-pits derives the goggle ID from it, exactly like the ExpressLRS firmware does.

  • Lap times and race info on the goggle OSD
  • DVR recordings named after the heat
  • Goggle clock set correctly
  • OSD layout at /setup/osd, with custom screens per pilot
  • Every pilot onto their race channel in one tap, or as each race is cued
  • Change a pilot's video channel from the desk
  • Send a message to some or all pilots
  • Netpack on wifi, USB backpack, or netpack with USB fallback

New Race-day HDZero firmware

Change channel on the goggles.
The quad follows.

Free custom firmware for HDZero goggles and their ELRS backpack. Pick a channel on the goggles and the drone's VTX, your radio and the race timer all retune with you. And the timer can put every pilot on their race channel, Lowband included.

Goggles drive the quad

Dial to a channel and confirm: the backpack sends it to your drone's VTX, your radio's VTX Administrator and the timer. Turn on Auto Send VTX to follow every change, or long-press to send (and re-send) on demand. A VTX SENT pill confirms it on screen.

Every band, Lowband too

The race director sets a pilot to Raceband or L1–L8 from dd-pits and the goggles switch band and tune. Stock firmware can't take a Lowband channel from the timer. The race-day builds also let the dial reach every band.

DVR named after the heat

dd-pits labels each pilot's next recording as their heat is cued, and the goggles add it to the usual name: hdz_0042-WinterCup-Mains-A-R5-H1.mp4. Find any race in seconds. Turn it on once: Record Option → Naming Scheme → ELRS.

The right time, always

The goggle clock is set from the timer over the backpack, so every recording carries the correct date and time.

Nothing taken away

Stock HDZero firmware with the race-day features added on top. Covers HDZero Goggle, Goggle 2 and BoxPro. The DVR and Lowband changes are submitted upstream to HDZero.

Two files, flashed as a pair

One for the goggles (Goggle, Goggle 2 or BoxPro), one for the goggle backpack.
